Micromax Android A 70 Mobile Phone: Hardware Specifications

It took some time for the India based mobile phone manufacture Micromax to come up with few smart phones for the Google Android platform. If I'm not mistaken A 60 was one of the first Micromax mobile phones to use the Android OS after seeing its success few weeks ago they announced its successor called the A 70 which is the latest of the bunch.

To start, the A 70 has a much much better looking physical design when comparing with the A 60 model, which wasn't that bad but but ;-). Although in general the look-n-feel is a lot similar to the other smart phones especially those LG Android ones.

Main features...

*. The screen is a 256K TFT captive touch screen although it still misses the 16M colors which otherwise would've look awesome. But for its price I think this is more than acceptable anyway.

*. Resolution of 320 x 280 with 3.2 inch screen size.

*. Proximity and accelerometer included.

*. Internal memory of 160MB, MicroSD slot supports memory expansions up to 32GB.

*. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 and HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps.

*. USB 2.0 port.

*. 3.5 mm audio output jack.

*. Runs the Android 2.2 Froyo version.

*. Camera - 5 MP, 2592х1944 pixels, autofocus.

*. Processor speed - 600 Mhz.

*. 2G network support - GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900.

*. SMS, MMS, Email, Push Email, IM

*. Web browsing support - WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML.

*. Comes in the Color Black only.

*. FM radio included.

*. Multimedia files support - MP3/WAV/AAC and MP4/H.263. But since it's Android, you can always find a hell lot of other multimedia players with ease anyway :).

*. Li-Ion 1450 mAh battery.

*. Stand-by time up to 168 hours + a continuous talk time of 4 hours (these values are according to the manufacture thus may change in actual circumstances).

*. Dimensions - 111 x 58 x 13.5 mm

*. Weight - 85 g.

Conclusion: Well, I haven't used it so cannot make any claims but when considering the powerful 5MP (well not that powerful by today's standard but still it's pretty darn good) camera, HSDPA support and the bigger touch sensitive screen + most importantly it runs the Android, for a price range about RS 8000-9000 (India rupees) Micromax Mobile is certainly going in the right direction without a doubt :).
